Adderall-adled thoughts about the new Bat For Lashes

Fur and Gold, Bat for Lashes’ last album, could sometimes sound pretty for the sake of sounding pretty. One of the pleasures of Two Suns is that, as gorgeous as it is, it’s never small. Natasha Khan’s wails, whether two-thirds through “Glass” or two-thirds through “Siren Song,” are primal. Not primal in the brimstone-and-fucking PJ Harvey kinda way, though as Sal already pointed out in his concert review, there’s a hint of the 50 ft. Queenie in “Peace of Mind.” But Khan is more tribal, slower-burning.
